Aberford is a small village located around 8 miles to the north-east of Leeds (West Yorkshire, England) and is home to just over 600 households.
Aberford is linear in shape, which is because was on what was 'The Great North Road'. The road was built by the Romans and connects London to York, and carries on up to Newcastle. Aberford was a coaching stop on the road and evidence of the coach houses can be seen today with large arches incorporated within many houses in the village.

I remember this view well from my childhood days, paddling and fishing in the beck on summer days.
I can remember the heavy rain causing floods through all three arches of the bridge on more than one occassion in the 50s and 60s!
