I GO TO THE SWAN QUITE REGULARLY AND I HAVE TO TAKE MY HAT OFF TO THEM EACH TIME I GO I TRY SOMETHING NEW AND THEY NEVER DISAPPOINT , WAS THERE LAST NIGHT AND HAD THE SHOULD OF LAMB - OH MY GOD - SHOULDER ! WAS MORE LIKE A WHOLE SHEEP - I HAD TO GET A DOGGY BAG AND HAD THE REST FOR MY SUNDAY LUNCH , THE CHEFS SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF THEMSELVES, THE WAITING AND BAR STAFF ARE SO PROFESSIONAL ITS LIKE A BREATHE OF FRESH AIR COMPERED TO RESTAURANTS IN LEEDS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND YOULL DEFO SEE ME AGAIN

I have been to The Swan on many occasions and Im never dissapointed! -I always leave very happy and Im comfortably stuffed every time! :)
For someone like myself who is a very picky/choosy eater the menu they provide is outstanding and offers such a wide variety of foods its difficult for me to even decide what I should order! My favourite is the Lasagne with chips n peas on the side but sometimes I order it with a selection of the chefs potatoes of the day! -N the roast potatoes r gorgeous! -Speaking of Roasts, The Swans Carvery's are beautiful! I love my Mums cooking, but The Swans food is absolutely delicious!
My Boyfriend, Ryan loves The Swan also and gets a bit grumpy whenever I go with someone other than him. -As myself n my friend Rach go quite often and my Mum likes to go also! Ryan's favourite is any of the steak dishes! We have been to many restaurants together but nothing ever seems to come close to The Swan. The Swan will take some beating for the great value of money you get each time you visit, the quality of the food and the very pleasant and welcoming staff. Thank you and I will see you again sometime soon. -Can't wait!

We went to the swan for the first time Monday 23 July it was very busy but they managed to fit us in i was well inpressed with the choice of menu also the portion size it was the first time my son had a 32oz stake and he said it was the best stake he had ever had as it was cooked to perfection (very Rare)needless to say i needed a doggy bag for my meal but my partner and son loved it it was excelent service and very friendly i am sure we will become regular customers

Dissapointing. Were greeted by rude staff, waited 45 min for a table, 30 min for our food and the food wasn't worth the money we paid. Portion size was good but quality, not quantity, eh guys?

We go quite frequently and have had mixed experiances - if it's busy it's a dead loss with staff trying to get huge meals on small tables and chasing the bill to get you out so the next lot can get in. Other times it's very good. You can't fault the food which is very good, but sometimes you think maybe smaller portions and less expense would be a better way forward. Having waited 20min to pay our bill on a previous visit we swore we'd never go again - but we went back 2 weeks later! The place needs some competition - and soon.

The White Swan is the epitome of english village pub life... full of character and charm with a fantastic welcome from all the staff.
Added to this charm is the most amazing value menu I have ever encountered.... You will need to allow sufficient time during your visit to peruse the enormous variety of food from all around the world which is all cooked to absolute perfection.... Doggy bags are always essential as the portions can be very satisfying... try the 'Belly Buster' mixed grill if you dare or share!
My partner and I love to visit whenever we have any excuse for a 'special occasion' and, despite the place always being busy, the service is second to none and the chef must be superhuman to turn out such a huge range, tasting consitantly so good, and without too much of a wait.
Particularly worth the visit is the Sunday Lunch which is to die for... But it can be busy! Better to visit for early lunch or later in the afternoon... Avoid twelve till two if you can, but you can always relax in the ample beer garden whilst you wait during the summer.
Set in the picturesque village of Aberford, it is the perfect setting to walk off the ample meal, along the river,
So all in all this place certainly ticks all the right boxes... I am slightly hesitant to give away Yorkshire's best kept secret but I suppose everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy such fine dining at least once, with great ales to match.... Enjoy!

Have always loved the swan, UNTIL NOW THAT IS!!!! we went last saturday. got there for 7pm with a group of 6,had to wait til gone 9 before even being acknowledged, then after asking the gentleman taking the table bookings we waited a further 25 mins for our table, then once seated nobody came to take an order for over half an hour even when we asked for someone to come? once ordered food then took 45 mins to come, food was nice, but service was SHOCKING!! gentleman taking table bookings was clearly intoxicated and unable to string a sentence together never mind address our concerns. We have always raved about the Swan and over the years have spent a lot of money there, but NEVER again. what a shame its clearly going downhill!

have been a few times in the past.and though sometimes theres been a bit of a wait, the food has always been worth the wait!portions are ALWAYS huge,well-prepared,tasty..guess the waiting just goes to show its very popular-and a place where people want to spend a WHOLE evening-not just eat&run,eh?some folk are simply NEVER pleased!cmc, preston.

You'll be hard pressed to find better English Pub food. The Swan is sensational value for money and to say the menu is extensive would be doing it a grave injustice. Duck, Rabbit, Venison, Ribs, Vast joints of meat, Burgers, Curry, Stir Fry....Whatever you can think of...its there and its beautifully cooked by the fantastic troup of chefs.
The service in the lower bar area can be hit or miss due to the vast amounts of people who rate this place highly. Advice if you want to be seated and served in good time and professsionally? GET THERE BEFORE 6PM. Otherwise you will wait all night.
Often overlooked, The Cygnet Restaraunt (upstairs) is fantastic value for money. Three course meal from a set menu is usually what's on offer and you will get change from £20 (minus drinks). The food isn't as bulky as the downstairs bar menu (So if you dont want to drive home feeling like Rik Waller you know where to go) and the service is ALWAYS second to none as upstairs only seats around 40 or so diners when its full up. You will NEED to book a table up here but usually a week in advance is more than enough unless its nearing the Christmas holidays.
Food 11/10
Value 9/10
Wines 9/10
Service Downstairs 5/10 (GET THERE EARLY ENOUGH AND THIS IMPROVES TO A 8/10)
Service upstairs 10/10
