Was the Simpson Family of Aberford any relation to the Mr Simpson who owned Halzlewood Castle from 1908-53?

Yes. Edward Overend Simpson and his wife Annie lived at Hazlewood Castle. Edward was a grandson of Thomas Simpson (b. Aberford 1786). Thomas's brothers John and James are mentioned in the 'Down Your Way' article.
