Village Shop closes

Aberford Village Shop closed its doors for the last time this weekend.

The lease on the shop expired at the end of September.

What a shame to hear about the closure of the Village shop.
Was this once the store called Addy's Store and before that the Boot and Shoe Inn? If someone could enlighten me, that would be kind. Paula Locke

Aberford is a small village located around 8 miles to the north-east of Leeds (West Yorkshire, England) and is home to just over 600 households.

Aberford is linear in shape, which is because was on what was 'The Great North Road'. The road was built by the Romans and connects London to York, and carries on up to Newcastle. Aberford was a coaching stop on the road and evidence of the coach houses can be seen today with large arches incorporated within many houses in the village.
