Match One - 27th May 2001
The relative peace & quiet of a bank Holiday
Monday was inter-spersed by the pleasant sound of leather meeting
willow when an Aberford representative cricket eleven from the Arabian
Horse recorded a famous victory over a Barwick in Elmet 11 from
The Black Swan.
The game culminated to a crescendo at 19:30 when Tom Keeney playing
his first ever cricket match took the final Barwick wicket by way
of diving catch by Mark Wheeler, the winning margin was a minimum
of 3 runs. The game was played at a pedestrian pace marked by it's
mediocrity and was Aberford's first win on the trot. Man of the
match with two wickets and a maximum of 25 runs was Terry "The Terror"
Beaumont who chose to miss the formalities and presentations to
get straight off for a curry with his missus.
